Shichun Ling, PhD

Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Criminalistics

California State University - Los Angeles

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at California State University – Los Angeles.

My research interests lie in studying the biological, psychological, and social risk factors that contribute to violence, aggression, psychopathy, antisocial behavior, suicidality/self-injurious thoughts and behaviors, and criminality. In my current work, I use biopsychosocial methods (including but not limited to neuro-criminological approaches) to further our understanding of the etiology of a broad range of antisocial behaviors and improve the development of interventions and treatments for such behaviors.

I hold a Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania, with a certificate in Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience. After graduating with honors from the University of California – Irvine with a B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior, I spent approximately two years conducting clinical research at the UCI Medical Center in the Neuropsychiatry Department.
